Pasco school district alerts parents to one confirmed swine flu case
Parents of all the children attending Chasco elementary and middle schools got automated phone calls to let them know that one child on the joint campus has been diagnosed with swine flu. A letter is going home this afternoon.
The student already has recovered and is back in school. A state lab informed the county health department and school district late Wednesday about the case.
Superintendent Heather Fiorentino said she has no plans to close the schools: "We're working closely with the health department to ensure the continued safety of all students and staff."
The health department all parents to keep an eye on their children and keep them home if they're not well. It also reminded everyone to wash their hands regularly and cover their mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.
More details as we get them.
