Pasco school district reorganization continues
Even as the Pasco School Board approved one set of administrative moves by new superintendent Kurt Browning on Tuesday, Browning announced yet another set of planned changes.
Browning alerted the board that assistant superintendent for curriculum John Mann, who retires at the end of the school year, will be transitioning into an unnamed different department. Mann had served in his post for just a few months, taking over in the summer at the retirement of Ruth Reilly.
Browning also said that Tom Barker, executive director for elementary schools, will take over as principal of Crews Lake Middle School. Barker was principal of Shady Hills Elementary, which feeds into Crews Lake, before moving to the district office.
Both changes will come to the School Board for approval on Dec. 18.
The board approved without discussion the appointments of Ray Gadd as assistant superintendent of administration, Amelia Van Name Larson as assistant superintendent for student achievement, and Chris Christoff as director of professional development. Browning has yet to name the people who will serve in several executive director positions that are being created. He did refer several times to Olga Swinson, current chief finance officer, when speaking about budget and finance issues.
