Pasco schools get new head resource officer
A shakeup at the Pasco Sheriff's Office has put a new lieutenant in the school district's top resource officer position.
Lt. J.R. Law, who had worked for the division previously as a sergeant, took over the section today. He replaces Lt. Brian Prescott, who held the position for 15 months and now is headed to be a shift commander for the Sheriff's Office District 2.
"It's actually been a very smooth transition. ... We're just kind of handing off the torch and continuing on with what we're presently doing," Law told the Gradebook.
Law has spent much of his career dealing with children's issues, including a stint overseeing child protective investigations, and he welcomed a return to the schools unit. "This is a program I have a great deal of passion for," he said.
Prescott said he enjoyed his time with the School Board. "I felt like I got some stuff done," he said. Now he's ready for a new challenge.
