In a brief statement on its website at nearly 9 p.m. Monday, the Pasco school district announced it would not be hiring new employees into most of its current job vacancies. The posting reads:

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - The majority of our jobs have been frozen.  Please see our jobs ads for the few areas in which we are hiring.  We will continue to accept applications during the hiring freeze. The date of the hiring freeze being lifted will be posted on this website once that date is determined.
