Pasco schools won't challenge FCAT results

July

heatherf.JPGPasco County schools testing experts spent much of Tuesday poring over FCAT results, checking for any of the anomalies that prompted superintendents in five other districts to question the validity of the scores.

They didn't find anything so out of line as to prompt them to join in the dispute. But that hasn't stopped the district from continuing its review, superintendent Heather Fiorentino told the Gradebook.

"We are still in the process of analyzing this year’s FCAT scores as well as other measures of student performance," Fiorentino said. "We are eager to see the findings of the Department of Education’s independent study of possible testing anomalies in the lowest quartile of fourth- and fifth-grade students. We will continue to look at multiple sources of data to make informed and appropriate decisions for all of our students."

The DOE has asked districts to submit their FCAT-related concerns by the end of business today.
