Pasco superintendent candidate field grows (officially)
There probably never was a question of whether incumbent Pasco schools superintendent Heather Fiorentino would qualify for the August primary ballot. But in collecting petitions to put her name before voters, rather than paying the fee, Fiorentino cut it close.
The Pasco supervisor of elections office on Friday certified that Fiorentino had submitted all 2,980 petition signatures needed to make the ballot. Moon Lake handyman Kenneth Benson also got his certification letter on Friday. The deadline is Monday at noon.
Former secretary of state Kurt Browning completed his petition more than two weeks ago.
All three candidates still must formally file papers in June to appear on the ballot. No other candidate names have yet emerged.
