Pasco superintendent pleased with progress at Hudson Middle
Pasco schools superintendent Heather Fiorentino hasn't said much about her recent visit to Hudson Middle School, where she was to meet with teachers to learn more about their concerns there.
But the few things she has let drop suggest that Fiorentino is not considerably worried about the way the school is running.
She told the Gradebook that after meeting with "a big group of people," she found that just a few seemed discontent with the school's leadership, contrary to a union-run climate survey taken at Hudson Middle in the spring. "A lot of good things are happening up there," Fiorentino said.
Her lack of action hasn't gone unnoticed. School Board member Steve Luikart told the Gradebook that he wants to give the superintendent some time to resolve the school's problems, which he has heard about via calls from staff members. But if nothing happens, Luikart said, he expects the issue to boil over at the board's Tuesday meeting.
Likely next superintendent Kurt Browning has said repeatedly that he's keeping an eye on this and other leadership matters as he explores his plans to run the district after the November general election. He visited the district offices again this morning to continue his learning tour of how the place operates. Stay tuned.
