Pasco's equipment checkout policy irks board member
A group of teachers' complaint against the Pasco school district's new equipment checkout procedure has caught the attention of at least one School Board member.
Alison Crumbley told the Gradebook that she was unaware of the administration's requirement that teachers agree to be financially responsible for the full replacement cost if their assigned computers are lost, stolen or damaged in several circumstances. She knew that was the case for board members who use district-owned technology, but not all employees.
And she didn't like it.
"Here we are expecting the teachers to buy into the technology, and they can't afford that," Crumbley said.
She planned to take a further look into the rules, with an eye toward a policy change. The Times editorial board has criticized the district. What do you think?
