Pinellas Education Foundation to host controversial movie
"Waiting for Superman" might be making teachers unions mad, but the Pinellas Education Foundation thinks it's worth seeing and talking about. It and the Helios Education Foundation are hosting a private showing of the movie next week, to be followed by an audience discussion.
The Tucker Hall public relations firm is sponsoring the event. St. Petersburg Mayor Bill Foster and his staff are assisting with planning. Here's what foundation director Terry Boehm had to say about it in the invitation to guests:
This documentary on the state of education is provocative and is sure to engage dialogue. As a community leader I hope you will be able to join us in the discussion. Education is a hot topic and on most peoples list of things to discuss. We cannot take responsibility for all the educational issues around the United States but we can take responsibility for being involved in our schools in Pinellas County.
