Pinellas ends academic coaching salary supplements at 4 high schools
Magnet teachers in four Pinellas high schools just got a 14 percent pay cut, effective this fall.
The district told principals at Gibbs, Lakewood, St. Petersburg and Palm Harbor University high schools this week that their magnet teachers will no longer earn the academic coaching salary supplements that amount to 14 percent of their base salary.
It wasn't clear tonight how many teachers will be affected overall or what the total savings will be. In this memo, district officials said "it was one of many difficult budgetary decisions" they had to make because of next year's $26 million budget hole.
