Pinellas names teacher of the year finalists



Pinellas school district and education foundation officials on Friday made surprise visits to six teachers to let them know they're the 2013 Outstanding Educator of the Year finalists. They are:

  • Jennifer Anderson: She is a Language Arts and Reading teacher at East Lake High School in Tarpon Springs. Jennifer is a 25-year veteran of Pinellas County Schools. 
  • Becky Bride: She is a Mathematics teacher and head of the Math Department at Palm Harbor University High School and has been with Pinellas County Schools for 18 years of her 24-year teaching career.
  • Krista Kelleher: She teaches students with Autism Spectrum Disorders in grades two through five at Sawgrass Lake Elementary in St. Petersburg and has been with Pinellas County Schools for 11 of her 16 years teaching.
  • Jennifer Klimis: She is a K-5 Gifted Program teacher and case manager at Tarpon Springs Fundamental Elementary and is a nine-year veteran of Pinellas County Schools. 
  • Jean Wark: She began her teaching career in 1982 and has been a Kindergarten teacher at Perkins Elementary in St. Petersburg since 1985.
  • Joanne Wright: She is a Reading teacher at Safety Harbor Middle School and has worked for Pinellas County Schools for nine years.

The 2012-13 Outstanding Educator of the Year will be announced at the annual Evening of Excellence, presented by the Pinellas Education Foundation, on Feb. 25, 2013, at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater.
