Pinellas school district: No plans to tinker with Seminole High
Contrary to rumor (one rapidly picking up steam), the Pinellas school district is not planning to turn Seminole High into some kind of career and technical center, district spokeswoman Andrea Zahn told The Gradebook today.
Some Seminole High parents have been getting emails in recent days (and so has The Gradebook) suggesting that is the case. But Zahn said they may be confused by one plank in Superintendent Julie Janssen's student assignment/achievement plan that suggests a redesign of the Seminole Vocational Education Center, a different school.
"WE CAN'T LET THIS HAPPEN!" one email says. "Just leave Seminole High School alone," says another.
Some emails implore parents to turn out at tomorrow night's school board meeting. Zahn said Seminole High principal Walter Weller will be sending out an automated phone message to reassure parents.
