Pinellas superintendent, school board sign 'leadership compact'
At the end of yesterday's retreat, Pinellas school board members and Superintendent Julie Janssen opted for a fresh start by signing a "leadership compact" drafted by board attorney Jim Robinson. "The Members and the Superintendent enter into this Leadership Compact to clarify roles, increase effectiveness, raise the level of understanding, and provide a model or high-quality governance and leadership," it says.
The compact (click on the link below to see it) comes after board members raised concerns last year (and as recently as this week) about communication, decision-making and getting data in a timely manner. Among other things, it says the board and superintendent will use the new decision-making process to guide their actions and "avoid words and actions that reflect negatively on an individual, the board, the superintendent or the district."
