Pinellas surveying parents, teachers on three issues

January

survey_says.jpgUPDATE at 6:45 p.m.: The district sent us more info about the surveys this afternoon. We included it at the end of the post.

After taking hit after hit last year for not getting timely stakeholder input, the Pinellas school district is now surveying parents and staff about three issues: school start times, dress codes and early release Wednesdays.

Some Pinellas parents received an e-mail Friday from the district's research and accountability office, asking them to participate in an anonymous survey about the three issues. "Your responses will provide us with beneficial information and assist in making important decisions for the Pinellas County Schools community," the e-mail says, adding the survey link is only being sent to a select sample.

Meanwhile, the district sent a similar draft survey to a pilot group of principals so they can poll staff members on the issues. You can see the draft by clicking on the link below.

UPDATE: From the district: Those being surveyed (including students, who will access the survey via Moodle) are in Region II schools. They were chosen because they “had the best demographic representation of the district as a whole,” district officials said in an email. They're shooting to present the results to the School Board at a retreat on Feb. 2.

Here's a list of the Region II schools
