Pinellas teachers to stand with Crist during Thursday announcement
Expect to see teachers alongside Gov. Charlie Crist when he appears at St. Petersburg's Straub Park Thursday at 5 p.m. The longtime Republican is expected to announce his intent to run for U.S. Senate as an independent.
Robin Haines, assistant to the Pinellas Classroom Teachers Association president, said at least 15 local teachers will be on stage with the governor. And countless others will participate from the audience.
Since Crist vetoed Senate Bill 6 on April 15, teachers across the state have vowed their support for his candidacy. According to our sister blog, The Buzz, he could use all the support he can get as he prepares to abandon the GOP and it prepares to abandon him.
