Playing the Pinellas magnet lottery: How did you fare? We want to know.

lottery.jpgThe application period for getting into Pinellas County magnet programs for 2012-13 has come and gone. According to Pinellas County school figures, the district received 17,471 applications for 6,389 entry-level seats at the county's elementary, middle and high school magnet and fundamental programs (that's for the kindergarten, sixth and ninth-grade spots in most programs). The district's numbers show that officials issued 7,365 invitations to students in those grades, which means that only 42 percent of the applications submitted resulted in an invitation. So far, 4,632 students are wait-listed. We at the Tampa Bay Times want to hear your magnet school application stories. Did your child get numerous invitations? None? Did he or she make it into their first-choice? How about their second choice? Where will you send your child next year? Call Times education Rebecca Catalanello at 727-893-8707 or email
