PTA reminds you to rally in Tallahassee

Teachers and college students can't have all the fun.

The Florida PTA wants to have its day protesting budget cuts to public education, too.

So the group is reminding parents around the state to come to its Rally in Tally on March 18 — that's next  Wednesday, if you can make it.

"These cuts have already reached the classroom," president Karin Brown said in a news release. "Cutting education funding is not the solution to balancing the state budget."

Is all the public noise making a difference? Perhaps.

Sen. Thad Altman, chairman of the Finance and Tax Committee, did recently urge people to pressure lawmakers to make needed tax reforms to "guarantee quality education now," after all. We'll have to wait and see whether words lead to actions.

If you have questions about the PTA rally, call the group at 1-800-373-5782 or check out its Web site.
