PTAs to Gov. Scott: Appropriately fund our schools

7

March

Florida's PTAs plan to bury Gov. Rick Scott in postcards asking him to "appropriately fund public education."

Members of the statewide parents group hope to deliver the postcards during their 3rd Annual Rally-in-Tally on March 24, an event that drew about 2,000 people to Tallahassee last year.

The downloadable postcard urges Scott to remember public education: "I am counting on you," it reads, "to uphold the Florida Constitution to provide a uniform, efficient, safe, secure and high quality system of free public schools any appropriately fund publi education for the future of Florida's children and the economic viability of Florida and its future workforce."

The state faces a $3.62- billion shortfall this coming fiscal year. And more than $3 billion in federal stimulus funds that have helped the state fill education budget holes for two years are expected to sunset this spring.
