Report: Bad laws protecting bad teachers
Florida and other states have trouble firing bad teachers because of "vague, outdated, and ineffective state laws," according a new report that analyzes teacher dismissal laws in all 50 states.
The report is another blast from the Center for American Progress, a left-leaning think tank that just won't let go of the problems it sees in teacher hiring, firing and pay. "Dismissal is perceived as a local issue, handled by individual school administrators and local school boards, but the process is largely shaped by state law," it says.
Florida rules are here and here.
