SB 6 weighing on Gov. Crist
Our sister blog the Buzz reports that Crist indicated that his conversations about the controversial measure to change the face of teaching in Florida have him thinking hard about his options.
"I had a conversation with a friend of mine for many years, he was concerned about the provisions of the bill that require progress," Crist said. "And he's like, 'How can my son have progress? It's very challenging.' And that's weighing on me heavily."
When asked what he thinks of the bill now, he said: "I like the accountability part of it...We always continue to review these things."
UPDATE: Speaking to a group of Realtors, Crist had more to say about SB 6, the Buzz reports:
Asked to elaborate on his concerns from teachers that the merit pay bill could adversely affect special needs students, Crist acknowledged he had a shift of opinion. "Shame on any public servant who doesn't listen to the people.''
