School safety to take heightened role in Pasco administration
In another small but telling move, Pasco schools superintendent Kurt Browning has reassigned the district's head school resource officer to directly report to the assistant superintendent for operations -- just a step away from Browning himself.
In past years, Lt. J.R. Law (and those who preceded him) reported to the director of student services.
The move, which took immediate effect Wednesday, came as the district has begun taking a closer look at all aspects related to student and school security issues. Board members have scheduled a workshop on district emergency procedures for mid-December. They asked for the information following two high-profile deaths of Hillsborough County special education students in district care.
"We plan to sit with the Sheriff's Office to review all safety issues," assistant superintendent Ray Gadd told the Gradebook.
