Our colleagues at the Buzz report that Florida secretary of state Kurt Browning, a Pasco County native, has resigned his post effective Feb. 17.

He confirmed for the first time that he is looking into running for Pasco County schools superintendent against two-term incumbent Heather Fiorentino, who announced her reelection bid last week.

Fiorentino said that Browning had told her that if he decides to run, he will let her know. So far, she said, "I have not heard from him."
