Congratulations to Lisa Yost, principal of McKitrick Elementary in northwest Hillsborough. She's been named Florida's 2007 National Distinguished Principal by the National Association of Elementary School Principals. The organization looks for strong leaders who have programs designed to meet all students' needs, and who have firm community ties. Yost, the daughter of former Hillsborough superintendent Walter Sickles, has run McKitrick since it opened in 2001. Previously was honored by the state for leading one of Florida's 100 top-performing elementary schools, Yost lives in Lutz with her husband and 16-year-old son.
