Education news and notes from Tampa Bay and Florida

Shout-out to local ed blogger

Simpsonized_image_6 The University of South Florida's Sherman Dorn (that's his "Simpsonized" portrait to the left) has reached the big time.

Ok, that's big time for the wonky subset of people fascinated by education blogging. (The best audience out there, as Gradebook readers will attest.) Dorn's blog made this year's reading list of top education bloggers, as compiled by the Washington Post's Jay Matthews.

The picks were made by Ken Bernstein, a teacher and fellow education blogger. Matthews added his commentary. Here's what they had to say about Dorn, an associate professor of education at USF.

Bernstein: Dorn is a professor at the University of South Florida and the current editor of Education Policy Analysis Archive, a key online peer-reviewed journal about education policy. His site sometimes points at key issues that are bubbling in the profession. Like me, he is a participant in the Education Policy Blog.

Mathews: Dorn is among the great original thinkers of education wonkery.
