Education news and notes from Tampa Bay and Florida

So how did they vote on SB 6?

The expectation was that Florida House Republicans would support the bill overhauling the way school teachers are paid, evaluated, certified and contracted. Conventional wisdom had Democrats in the "no" column.

The early a.m. vote came down at 64-55. Some switched sides. Here's who.

Republicans voting against the bill were Faye Culp of Tampa, Ed Homan of Temple Terrace, Marcelo Llorente of Miami, Peter Nehr of Tarpon Springs, Pat Patterson of Deland, Juan-Carlos Planas of Miami, Julio Robaina of Miami, Ron Schultz of Homosassa, Charles Van Zant of Palatka, Mike Weinstein of Orange Park and Juan Zapata of Miami.

Democrats voting for the bill were, well, none.

Next stop, Gov. Charlie Crist. Only one guy to focus on. The campaigns have already begun.

See the full roll call for everyone's vote.
