So long, farewell

Bostock GallucciThe Pinellas School Board bade farewell this morning to Nancy Bostock and Jane Gallucci, who were attending their last meeting after serving as board members for 10 and 12 years, respectively.

Bostock chose earlier this year to leave her post in mid term to run for a County Commission seat, which she won in last week's general election. Gallucci chose not to run for another term in order to run for a County Commission seat, which she lost in the Aug. 26 primary.

Bostock and Gallucci thanked their fellow board members, teachers, and administrators and wished newly elected members Robin Wikle and Nina Hayden well.

"You challenged me," Bostock said. "Sometimes you frustrated me. All in all, you made me a better public servant."

Said Gallucci: "I am so proud of this district. We've had mountains to climb, and we've climbed them, and we've done well for the kids."

Both promised to remain visible in the future, Bostock as the mother of three children in the system, and Gallucci as a watchdog on issues facing education in Florida such as the class size amendment.
