St. Petersburg High students in bus crash
A school bus with about 20 St. Petersburg High students on board was slammed this afternoon by a car that witnesses said was travelling at a high rate of speed through a neighborhood near Lealman. Authorities said the bus driver was seriously injured. Students told The Gradebook that several of their peers had what appeared to be minor injuries and were taken away by ambulance.
Eyewitness Geremy Sprenger, 28, said he boarded the bus quickly after it came to a stop inches from a house. He said he helped the driver, who was on the floor, back into her seat, then asked the students if anyone was seriously hurt. He said after the students filed out through the back door, the driver gathered them up and shepherded them to a safe spot across the street. Read more here.
