Stabbed Pinellas SRO receives award of valor
Ken Fridlund, the Pinellas County school resource officer who was stabbed and seriously wounded after an April 5 attack by a Carwise Middle School student, was honored today with a national award. The National Association of School Resource Officers, meeting at its conference in Orlando, gave him the "Award of Valor" for his actions.
"Officer Fridlund's dogged determination to not give up and to put his personal safety after the safety of the students and staff at this school clearly point to Officer Fridlund as a hero," concludes the nomination letter from Pinellas schools police chief Tom Gavin.
