Staff survey comments released, just not on Pinellas' website

On the heels of Pinellas County's release of the latest staff climate survey results, the district sends us the following two documents containing employees' written comments by school. (Click on "Comments" to access both PDF files.)

Superintendent John Stewart told the school board this week that the district would not be posting these comments on its web site along with the rest of the survey results. According to school district spokeswoman Melanie Marquez, that's because the Pinellas Association of School Administrators requested that they not be published there.

"Dr. Stewart agreed to this request in an effort to support continuous improvement of the survey process," Marquez wrote in an email. The comments are being shared, however, with each school, she said.

The first document you'll see is 440 pages of comments collected from employees participating in the original one-day Feb. 8 survey. And the second is 291 pages of comments collected after district leaders reopened the comments-only portion through email and Survey Monkey amid complaints that some teachers were not invited to participate in the Feb. 8 questionnaire.
