After uncovering test cheating in schools in its own backyard, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution launched a national investigation to see how widespread the problems with standardized testing have become.

Its look into 69,000 public schools for what the AJC called "suspicious" patterns, such as difficult to statistically explain fluctuations in results, pointed to problems in at least 200 districts across the country. The paper flagged districts that had test scores "outside the norm" and suggested that those that consistently had 10 percent or more of their classes in that category might need further examination for cheating.

It posted database information for every state including Florida, where only a handful of small counties fell into the category for a single year. The Tampa Bay area districts fell well below the 10 percent mark, with Pasco County leading the way with a flag rate of less than 2 percent for all years reviewed.
