Teachers target Marco Rubio over SB 6
As they await Gov. Charlie Crist's decision on Senate Bill 6, Florida teachers are making plans to let Marco Rubio know this his views on the bill (supporting it) will influence their decisions at the ballot box.
Rubio, leading Crist in the polls for the GOP nod for U.S. Senate, begins a bus tour of the state on Tuesday. His schedule has him stopping in the Villages -- where Crist got an earful against SB 6 -- and Pasco County -- home of House education committee leaders Will Weatherford and John Legg.
Says the FEA:
"Crist has received thousands of emails, calls, FaceBook posts, and personal encounters with opponents to veto the bill, but he is also under tremendous pressure to pass the bill in hopes of shoring up Republican support for his Senate race.
Rubio has come out publicly in support of SB-6. Show your support for a Crist veto. Let Rubio know that SB-6 is bad legislation and why Governor Crist needs to veto 6."
Republican leaders in the House and Senate tell the Gradebook they have no idea what Crist plans to do. Rumors have him making an announcement before Rubio grabs the attention with his bus. Any guesses on the fate of SB 6?
