Teaching jobs to come open in Pasco

Helpwanted4 The Pasco school district's hiring freeze is about to end.

The district expects to advertise 40 to 50 teaching positions this week, and applicants from the outside will be considered for the first time in months. That's because all but 23 of the 470 Pasco teachers who were displaced now have jobs in the district, and those remaining 23 don't qualify for the openings that are about to be posted.

"We have many jobs that no one is qualified for at this point," superintendent Heather Fiorentino told the Gradebook.

The areas that are expected to be available include foreign languages and vocational programs. Look for the ads as early as Thursday.
