Thousands of new voters in the Hillsborough County schools

A get-out-the-vote effort in the Hillsborough County Public Schools has yielded more than 2,000 registered voters, the district reported.

A partnership between the Hillsborough Supervisor of Elections office and the district's secondary social studies staff, which began when Pam Iorio ran the elections office and was continued by former Superintendent and current elections supervisor Earl Lennard, signed up 2,232 voters.

The largest numbers were in Strawberry Crest High School (179); Chamberain (178), Gaither (148), Brandon (141) and Durant (116).
