Three apply to lead Pasco Paul R. Smith Middle School

October

Pasco County's Paul R. Smith Middle School, a Title I school in Holiday, suddenly found itself without a principal when Chris Dunning was abruptly transferred to lead Seven Springs Middle two weeks ago. Dunning, who did not apply for the Seven Springs job, was moved after Phil Kupczyk resigned his post after a year there.

The district advertised the Paul R. Smith Middle position, and closed the applications on Wednesday. Three current administrators applied. They are:

  • Tracie Beerman, assistant principal at Seven Springs Middle
  • Tracey Bruno, assistant principal at Weightman Middle
  • Margie Fackelman, assistant principal at River Ridge Middle

District officials have said that Dunning left Paul R. Smith, a school he opened, in good shape to move ahead under new leadership. The three names head to the superintendent and staff for interviews and selection, which is supposed to occur quickly.
