While lawmakers hammered out their proposals on performance pay, career academies and other education priorities, interim education Commissioner Jeanine Blomberg laid out the administration's goals for the 2-day-old legislative session in a speech in to Palm Beach County leaders. The four she focused on: strengthening curriculum standards, rewarding top educators, expanding professional development and expanding access to higher education. "We can't look at a snapshot of the student considering only what happened in this class, this test or this subject," Blomberg said. "We must look at these students and picture them years down the road, saving a life, teaching a student or running a business. These legislative priorities will help us achieve these goals."
