David Armstrong left a void in the state Division of Community Colleges when he resigned as chancellor to take the helm of Broward Community College earlier this year. The Department of Education still is searching for the best person to replace the veteran leader of almost a decade.

In the interim, the state has turned to the man who Armstrong replaced - former BCC president Will Holcombe - to serve as temporary chancellor. Commissioner Jeanine Blomberg introduced Holcombe to the State Board of Education this morning.

"I appreciate the opportunity. I'll work my hardest to assist," Holcombe told the board. "There's a lot of progress that's been made and a lot more to do."
