Two views on school board salaries
In response to Sen. Steve Wise's proposal to eliminate school board salaries in Florida, this editorial the St. Augustine Record says leave 'em alone: If Wise thinks school board members can function on stipends and expense reimbursements, then why isn't he suggesting the same for other public boards statewide like county commissions and even the Legislature?
Cut 'em, now, comes the response from the executive editor of the Sunshine State News: I've lived in places where elected school board members are paid nothing. Maybe you have, too, and you'll know what I mean. I can assure you, those districts ran competently and in the sunshine. (Image from www.brandblueprint.org)
