Tying teacher pay to test scores: Call it playing by Duncan's rules

Why are so many states following Florida's footsteps in considering laws that would connect teachers' pay and evaluations to student test results? It's all about money, Mother Jones reports, and U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan holds the wallet.

Race to the Top grant funds are driving this change, which now has become law in Colorado and still looms large for Florida in the future. Yet, Mother Jones suggests, "there is ... a mountain of research showing that (the proposed reforms) don't work."
