UF's Innovation Academy will spread students across semesters
Last week the newly appointed chairman of the University of Florida Board of Trustees, Carlos Alfonso, told us about a new initiative to get away from the agrarian calendar and spread students more broadly across the school year.
Not only would it open up space for more kids to be accepted, but it'd bring UF more money -- an important goal in these tough economic times.
Dubbed the Innovation Academy, the group of students will only be allowed to take on-campus classes during spring and summer. They can, however, take online classes or study abroad during the fall. The Gainesville Sun posted a more detailed look at the plan today on its education blog, The Chalkboard.
