United School Employees of Pasco PAC announces its candidate endorsements

No incumbents are seeking reelection in Pasco County's three contested School Board races, so don't go looking for the same level of status quo vs. something new that's brewing in both Pinellas and Hernando counties.

The Pasco School Board will be getting a new majority in the fall, and the United School Employees of Pasco political action committee wants its say in who sets policy and budgets. The group is recommending:

District 3: Teacher and USEP member Anthony Terranova

District 4: Child psychologist and Early Learning Coalition member Steven Kanakis

District 5: Retired assistant principal and USEP member Steve Luikart

"With the majority of seats up for election, the candidates being recommended are the best choices to provide a smooth transition and experienced leadership as our district strives to meet the economic challenges ahead." USEP president Lynne Webb said in a news release.

The election is Aug. 24. If a candidate does not receive more than 50 percent of the vote, the top two head to a general election in November.
