USF pres extols new research rankings
In a letter to the University of South Florida community, USF President Judy Genshaft boasted two new rankings that recognize the school as a top research institution and a high-impact university for faculty publications.
In the first, USF is ranked 27 among 600 of "America's Top Research Universities," according to The Center for Measuring University Performance.
The university was also recognized as 110th among all the world's universities in a ranking of faculty publications, according to a group called High Impact Universities, which is affiliated with the University of Western Australia. Harvard earned the No. 1 spot. In Florida, the University of Florida came in 50th, the University of Miami was No. 113, Florida State University was No. 150 and the University of Central Florida was 299.
"These rankings remind us of the depth and intensity the university has achieved, even as we face the financial issues that today affect every university and indeed our entire state," Genshaft wrote. "Essentially, they show the optimism of the USF System despite difficult fiscal constraints."
