USF provost to address faculty
University of South Florida Provost Ralph Wilcox will welcome faculty back to campus this afternoon, as part of his annual Fall Faculty Assembly. We'll bring you the highlights.
Expect lots of praise for USF's recent accomplishments, including a record number of patents and booming research activities. There will likely be plenty of talk about muddling through these tough economic times, too. But it's safe to say the address should be exceedingly positive.

What we probably won't hear about is the scandal swirling around the USF system these days -- with legislative leaders now clamoring for two of USF's branch campuses, USF Polytechnic and USF Sarasota-Manatee, to break off on their own. In fact, it's likely we won't hear anything about that from USF until the September meeting of the Board of Governors, which oversees the state university system and, earlier this month, asked for a presentation from USF about potential independence of USF Polytech.
