USF sets fundraising record
The name of the capital campaign is "USF: Unstoppable," and so far it seems pretty appropriate. This year, the University of South Florida Foundation set a new fundraising record with $111 million in donations from more than 44,000 people. That's $30 million more than the year before.
“Our fundraising success is further proof of the tremendous investment of time, talent and treasure that our communities have made in the USF System,” USF Foundation CEO Joel Momberg said in a news release. “Their generosity has, in turn, improved the living and learning environments enjoyed by our faculty and students, and furthered progress in reaching new frontiers of knowledge.”
More than $72 million of that money will support academic programs, $20 million will go to facility construction and more than $11 million will fund scholarships. It also includes $1 million given by USF President Judy Genshaft and her husband to create a new program to help students study abroad.
