USF students win award for movie about beer
Students at the University of South Florida School of Mass Communications won their first-ever Telly Award this week for a documentary on a subject close the hearts of many college kids: beer.
An Ale of a Tale beat out thousands of entries from established media outlets and businesses, winning the coveted award from the Silver Council judges who analyze entries based on how they measure up against a specified standard rather than each other.
The student documentary tells the history of beer, focusing on Yuengling Brewery in Tampa and Dunedin Brewery in Dunedin, as well as how to pair different beers with foods.
The Telly Awards honor outstanding local, regional and cable TV commercials and programs, video and film productions, and online film and video.
