Voucher suit update

10

July

Hoo boy. The voucher case is getting crowded.

Leon County Circuit Judge John C. Cooper agreed today to allow two groups to intervene in a lawsuit filed last month against proposed constitutional Amendments 7 and 9, which are scheduled to be on the November ballot.

The first group includes 8 members of the Florida Taxation and Budget Reform Commission: Allan Bense, Greg Turbeville, Patricia Levesque, Richard Corcoran, Susan Story, Mike Hogan, Nancy Riley and Ken Wilkinson. The second includes the Florida Catholic Conference, Mercy Hospital, Friends of Lubavitch of Florida, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Florida and Association of Christian Schools International.

You can read their motions to intervene here and here. You can read the plaintiffs' response here. The TBRC members also issued a statement on the subject, saying Florida's citizens deserve the final word on the matter.

The legal showdown is set for Aug. 4 at 9 a.m.
