Want to be a Pasco principal?

It's been, what, two weeks since a Pasco County school has gotten a new principal? So it must be time for another change, right?

This time around, though, the change will be neither abrupt nor unexpected. Mary Ellen Stelnicki, the longtime principal of Schrader Elementary School in Bayonet Point, is retiring in November, and the district is looking for her replacement. The pay range is $71,445 - 108,704. Interested? The deadline is next Monday.

More vacancies are on the way, too. Dave Estabrook, currently principal of Rushe Middle School in Land O'Lakes, retires in December. And more departures are expected in the summer.

Already this year, nine schools started off the semester with a new principal. The Irvin Education Center still needs a new leader. In 2009-10, seventeen Pasco schools opened the academic year with new principals.
