What to do with $5B? Jeb seeks advice for Arne

Busheducationsummit280f Former Florida governor Jeb Bush has visited the Obama Education Department, calling Secretary Arne Duncan a key Democrat reformer who sees things his way.

Now the self-styled education governor wants to give Duncan some advice on the best way to Race to the Top.

On his Foundation for Excellence in Education Web site, Bush asks the question: "If you had $5,000,000,000 to transform education in America, how would you spend it?"

People from around the country already have begun to contribute their ideas, and Bush has posted his thoughts, too. You also can submit your views, with the foundation's promise that it will take "the most promising, most innovative and most audacious ideas directly to U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan."

Wouldn't it be cool if you wrote the policy? If you do post on the foundation site, please share your ideas here, too. We don't have inroads to the ed secretary, but maybe Florida commissioner Eric J. Smith will see and like them.
