Education news and notes from Tampa Bay and Florida

What does Michelle Rhee stand for?

6

December

With her appointment to Rick Scott's education transition team, and rumors flying that she could be Florida's next education commissioner, Michelle Rhee's views on schools increasingly matter to the Sunshine State.

We tried to get Rhee to answer a few questions about her positions for us, but we didn't hear back.

So instead we refer you to Rhee's new advocacy website, studentsfirst.org, which she launched earlier today. It talks about putting children's interests ahead of vested interests, and allowing families to make the best choices for their kids to have excellent schools and teachers.

Rhee told Oprah that she is "going to start a revolution," the Wall Street Journal reports. She hasn't made herself available for more insights yet, though she has written an essay on "What I've Learned" for Newsweek. Stay tuned.
