Where charter schools thrive in Florida



Charter school enrollment now tops 10 percent of total public school enrollment in four Florida school districts, according to this recent report that outlines charter growth nationwide.

Lee County is tops in Florida, at 13 percent, followed by Lake County (12 percent), Polk County (11 percent) and Miami-Dade (10 percent).

Eight Florida districts are in the Top 50 nationwide for charter school enrollment. Miami Dade is No. 7, with 35,380 charter students. Broward is No. 10, with 24,150. Hillsborough is No. 38, with 6,207. Polk, Lee, Palm Beach, Orange and Osceola also make the list.
