Who wants to be a high school principal?

In quitting his job as Gulf High School principal, Steve Knobl observed how demanding the position has become in recent years, leaving little time for life outside of work.

The limited interest in filling the Gulf principal's chair appears to validate his views. Only two people — Anclote High assistant principal Kim Davis and Mitchell High assistant principal Angie Murphy — have applied.

Contrast that to the 78 people who put their names in to take the Pasco school district's vacant human resources director job (list attached below). Among them: district principals Mike Asbell, Monica Ilse, Chris Dunning, Vicki Garner and Tammy Kimpland. did rank HR manager as the third best job in the country for 2012, while school principal came in at 74. Elementary school teacher ranked 92, teacher's aide 112, high school teacher 137, and newspaper reporter 196.

Pasco district officials have said they intend to fill the Gulf principal job quickly. Knobl's last day was Tuesday.
